about

‘If you were to put together Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Caribou and Glass Animals…you would create a singularity…it would just lay waste and it would be over and we’d all just be particles in the sand…but out of those dusty particles of oblivion we have this incredible band called Low Island’ Zane Lowe

2022 sees them gear up to release their second album, Life in Miniature, described by the band as a ‘sonic photo album; a journey through three years of accelerated change that felt like a lifetime.’ Due for release in November 2022, it promises more ‘delicious pop abstraction’ (Clash), coming hot on the heels of a packed-out show at London’s Village Underground, an upcoming EU headline tour and supporting X Ambassadors in September.

Paving the way for independent artists with their cathartic anthems about love, loss and life, Low Island follow in the lineage of Oxford bands Radiohead, Glass Animals and Foals: tenacious, free-spirited and fearless. Their best is yet to come.

Their debut took stock of a 20s filled with false-starts, heartbreak and cyclical conflict, carving a path towards a better decade to come. It was swiftly followed by EP Just Another Dreamer, where they continued to hone their delicate balance of stirring electronics, indie rock and infectious pop, inviting comparisons to Caribou, Foals and The 1975. This balance is one they have been devotedly fine-tuning over the years, firmly rooted in an independence that extends to everything from managing themselves, writing and producing their own music, directing their own videos and releasing everything on their own record label, Emotional Interference.

It’s an independence that is paying off. The release of both album and EP resulted in sold out shows across the UK, and has brought them accolades from Line of Best Fit, Rolling Stone and Paste, alongside play-listing from Double J, Deutschlandfunk Nova, NDR 2, with further support from BBC Radio1 and KCRW. It’s found them champions in 6music’s Lauren Laverne, Double J’s Zan Rowe and Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, who described the band’s ‘unbelievable…soulful, intellectual creativity.’ Streaming platforms have enthusiastically championed too, with Spotify adding all 8 latest singles to New Music Friday UK, Apple Music including the band on their Global Breaking Rock and Breaking Alternative playlists, and Amazon Music featuring them on their ‘Best Songs of 2021 List’, inviting them to record a live session.
